Free membership of Kwak riders club for 650 V owners
« on: May 09, 2012, 10:09 PM »
Spotted this on a link from the Autotrader site.....

http://www.kawasaki.co.uk/Offer/Details/34092CF722D

If you ride your 650 to a dealer and test ride the 1000 they'll give you free membership of the Kawasaki riders club and other stuff like a four year warranty if you order one.Worthwhile if you were going to buy one anyway.

Looks good,i'm actually tempted to give it a go out of curiosity and see how the big V goes & handles in comparison to it's wee brother,i just wish i liked the way it looks :003: But reading between the lines,i think this sort of suggests that they are not selling very well, seems like there attempting to lure the 650 owners to the Big Versys to help shift them, they will surely like it it,won't they?  :notsure:

I'll take a test ride and I'm sure it'll be a fine ride, but I know I'll never buy one as an IL4 just doesn't do it for me anymore.
Good luck exploring the infinite abyss

Sat on one the other day and suprised just how light it felt and how the riding position was so similar, but at just on ?9.5k its a bit dear for me at the moment, so walked away from a test ride and put Diablo back in his bag.

At least you don't see the bike when you're riding it, unless you happen to glance in a shop window as you go past  :33:

The problem Kawasaki have with the V1000 is that it's not really aimed at V650 riders who want to upgrade (the Kawasaki guy at the NEC pretty much admitted this).  It feels similar but bigger at standstill but on the move it's a very different experience - the engine dominates and, good as it is, it ain't a twin so doesn't feel like a larger version of the 650.  It's really aimed at sportsbike riders who want an easier life but in this context it needs to look sportier, more like say, a Z1000SX!  :138:

Although the adventure bike market is pretty big and still growing, Kawasaki are quite late joining the party and there are now a lot of very competent competitors in this sector (not counting the Honda Crosstourer of course :015: ).  The V1000 is a little unusual, not just in the looks department but also in concept (in-line 4 with no off road ability but with semi-off road tyres  :187: ).  This could work for it...but probably not.

I test rode one and I didn't get anything   :003:  :003:  ( Appleyards Keighley) Boggaloon,
I didn't want to like it but loved it , The engine is a peach and it did feel nice to ride , Report back after you have been because after I had ridden it for a few hours I warmed to its looks .
