I did part of that route last week Richard.  The road from Tweedsmuir past Talla was excellent.  I had big problems getting from the west side of the M74 to the little road that parallels it on the east side.  Ended up doing some big S's around Elvanfoot.

TM what the planned times for the afternoon and which way round you going. I have a clash on Saturday evening...again and need to be home around 8pm hence needing to plan my departure

The routes have changed a bit. (Less driving miles more chances to stop and admire / take pictures of the views and chat).

Starting in Moffat, Lunch in Moffat, Ending about 5/6pm in Moffat.  :028:

As it will take a max of 3 hours for you to get down the road (via M/way) to St Helens, you could leave the Moffat area at 5pm  :027:  or later if you want to see how low a mpg figure you can get  :007:

Will be posting the new routes later this week when I have finalised a few things  :028:

Hi Towerman is the First Picture Taken at Crawford Pass ? If it is i hope you all get a clear day as the Views up there are Awesome. Francis
