13 days to go.  The weather chart for 1200h on May 20 is now showing a low pressure system over most of the UK, centred on Ireland.  It is still predicted to be a relatively 'light' system with barometric pressure generally above 1000mb, but dipping below 1000 for a while on Saturday night.

LRWF Moffat:

Friday, May 20:  Clear and sunny with scattered clouds.  High of 11C low of 9C.  Wind from the south.  Barometric pressure falling.

Saturday, May 21:  Cloudy with a high probability of rain in the afternoon.  High of 12C low of 9C.  Wind from the south-east.  Barometric pressure falling.

Sunday, May 22:  Overnight rain, clearing by morning to cloudy skies.  High of 12C low of 9C.  Wind initially from the south, switching to the west as the day progresses.  Barometric pressure falling.

VLRWF Scotland - Week of May 23-27:

Monday (23rd):  Sunny with scattered showers.
Tuesday (24th):  Sunny with scattered showers.
Wednesday (25th):  Rain.
Thursday (26th):  Rain.
Friday (27th):  Showers.
Ride as if your life depended on it.

12 days to go.  The models continue to predict a low pressure system over the UK with another over Norway.  That means - more unpredictability!  But the weekend weather looks better in this forecast than it has previously.  Unfortunately, anybody planning on spending a few more days in Scotland will be less excited about the very long range forecast for Scotland for the remainder of the week.

LRWF Moffat:

Friday, May 20:  Clear and sunny.  High of 10C low of 7C.  Wind from the east at 20mph.  Barometric pressure steady.

Saturday, May 21:  Clear and sunny.  High of 12C low of 9C.  Wind from the east at 20mph.  Barometric pressure steady.

Sunday, May 22:  Overnight rain, clearing by morning to sunny skies.  High of 10C low of 7C.  Wind initially from the north to north-west at 10-20mph.  Barometric pressure rising.

VLRWF Scotland - Week of May 23-27:

Monday (23rd):  Partly cloudy.
Tuesday (24th):  Rain ... and lots of it.
Wednesday (25th):  Rain, but skies clearing throughout the day.
Thursday (26th):  Partly cloudy.
Friday (27th):  More rain.
Ride as if your life depended on it.

Some people are already in Scotland the week beforehand  :biker1:

So what is that week looking like
Maybe you can add that to your excellent forecasting  :028:

12 days to go.  The models continue to predict a low pressure system over the UK with another over Norway adding to the turbulence.  That means - wind and forecast unpredictability.  But, the weekend weather looks better in this forecast than it has previously.  Anybody planning on spending a few days in Scotland after NVM will be less excited about the general long range forecast for Scotland.  For those that are in Scotland for the week before NVM, the week is looking OK, but there's still a high probability that you'll get wet.

LRWF NVM - Moffat:

Friday, May 20:  Clear and sunny.  High of 10C low of 7C.  Wind from the east at 20mph.  Barometric pressure steady.

Saturday, May 21:  Clear and sunny.  High of 12C low of 9C.  Wind from the east at 20mph.  Barometric pressure steady.

Sunday, May 22:  Overnight rain, clearing by morning to sunny skies.  High of 10C low of 7C.  Wind initially from the north to north-west at 10-20mph.  Barometric pressure rising.

LRWF - Moffat - Week of May 16:

Monday (16th):  Partly cloudy, sunny intervals.  Windy, with gusts to 20mph.
Tuesday (17th):  Cloudy with isolated showers.
Wednesday (18th):  Clear skies and sunshine.
Thursday (19th):  Rain.

VLRWF - Scotland - Week of May 23:

Monday (23rd):  Partly cloudy.
Tuesday (24th):  Rain ... and lots of it.
Wednesday (25th):  Rain, but skies clearing throughout the day.
Thursday (26th):  Partly cloudy.
Friday (27th):  More rain.

Forecast for week before is plenty of cloud (aka rain) and temperatures about 11 or 12.   So much more atmospheric than the 25 degrees we have in Essx today.   :008: :008:  Had too many layers on - must have been quite a sight as Mrs O and I stripped in a layby.   :5: :5:

Change "in a" to "for" and add a D and O to the last word and even I would be shocked.

Landed at Manchester at 15.00 hrs it was 28c when aircraft door opened it felt like a furnace,  across the moors and snake pass it never fell below 26.

Overall Synopsys

11 days to go.

Unfortunately, as the date of the NVM gets closer, and the weather models become increasingly accurate, the outlook is deteriorating!  Take a look at the attached chart (for 1200h on May 20) and you'll see two low pressure systems, one centred in the Atlantic to the south-west of the UK and another centred in the Norwegian sea to the north of Norway.  Neither are 'massive' depressions but with barometric pressures dipping down to 985mB they are significant.  With the UK caught slap bang between them it'll mean very unsettled weather with wind and rain.

Let's hope that over the next few days, this prediction changes!

LRWF NVM - Moffat: w/end of May 21-22

Friday, May 20:  The best day of the weekend, if a little chilly.  Clear and sunny with a high of 9C and a low of 7C.  Windy at first with gusts from the west at 20mph but dropping to 10mph in the afternoon in time for those pitching tents.  Barometric pressure falling.

Saturday, May 21:  The worst day of the weekend so wrap up warm.  Cold and wet, with rain showers, especially in the afternoon.  High of 9C low of 6C.  Wind from the east to north-east with gusts to 30mph.  Barometric pressure stabilising.

Sunday, May 22:  Overnight rain, clearing throughout the day, but a high probability of showers.  High of 11C low of 9C.  Wind initially from the north to north-west at 10-20mph.  Barometric pressure rising.

LRWF - Moffat - Week of May 16:

Monday (16th):  Partly cloudy with sunny intervals.  Cold, with overnight tempts dropping to freezing.
Tuesday (17th):  Sunny with clear skies in the morning but moving to rain in the afternoon.
Wednesday (18th):  Rain, rain, rain.
Thursday (19th):  Rain in the morning, but skies clearing in the afternoon and evening.
Friday (19th):  Clear skies and sunshine.

VLRWF - Scotland - Week of May 23:

Monday (23rd):  Rain showers.
Tuesday (24th):  Rain in the morning, but skies clearing throughout the day.
Wednesday (25th):  Clear skies in the morning, but clouding up and turning to rain in the afternoon.
Thursday (26th):  Showers.
Friday (27th):  Rain.
