Fastest time at the Barbon hill climb was a GSXR 750 with the forks dropped through the yolks and about 20psi out of the racing wet rear tyre...

I used to go to a lot of hillclimbs. Very informal and friendly, but still ultra competetive - maybe the purest form of motorcycle sport? I really liked the fact that anything goes, there was a chap used to race at Barbon on a grass track bike with road tyres! Seems like converted motocross bikes with 17" wheels are the most popular choice, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't have a good go on the Versys. There is a road legal class.

Can be done very cheaply too, 30 for a day licence from the ACU, a days membership of the National Hill Climb Association and entry in an event...

Lots of other interesting stuff on the NHCA website.

Hi,thanks for replies, would consider doing an event on my versys but really want to keep that as my road bike and seeing as just upped to 16 sprocket and recent new tyres that I don't want flatting whilst warming rear tyre up and fancy a competition bike😜

How about doing Classic Hillclimbs on a nice 2 stroke with a bit of Castrol-R running through it for nostalgia  :002:
