FS: Yamaha R1 4C8 shock absorber
« on: Jan 24, 2017, 09:18 PM »
Hi,

I bought this shock to do the conversion on my Mk1 Versys 650 but decided to sell the bike this year. Also, I don't think I'd have been able to fit it anyway, as my bike has one of Speedy's lowering kits fitted which means there probably isn't the room for the reservoir.

The shock is as brand new, as in it was fitted at factory to a brand new bike but removed and replaced with an Ohlins when that bike was rebuilt for racing straight from the crate. A friend of mine who builds R1 racebikes (and collects R7s and OW01s) has a whole box full of these so I took the best looking one. It's in great condition aside from a few light marks and scratches on the spring from where it was stored in a box with the others. All adjusters work as they should and the machined alloy looks a treat.

I just want what I paid for it. I looked on eBay before posting and there's a scruffy used one on there on 'buy it now' for 100 so I think it's a fair price considering it is like new.

Sorry GrandPrix, but Craig has already been in contact and he's first on the list. If he decides to pull from the deal for any reason then I'll let you know.

There's a fair bit of info in the Modifications Section of the forum about what the R1 shock swap entails and what is needed to do it.
