depends on your height, at 5ft 7 i liked mine lowered, ymmv, theres no real difference in handling etc whether lowered or not.....but, as has been said, takes 10 mins to take it off and try it without :028:

Did you need to lower the side stand at all? Thinking of lowering mine, but worried about the side stand, and the angle of the bike.

When I lowered mine I bought a second hand eBay er6 side stand which is a shorter version of the versus stand, it gives the correct lean angle
if you use the versus stand the bike is too upright unless you cut a couple of inches off it & weld the foot back on.

I had a lowering kit on mine soon after I bought it. I'm 5' 8". It gave me the confidence I needed at the time, then I took it off when I got the low gel seat.  that makes a bit of difference, but not as much as the lowering link.
But in response to you question, I don't recall any difference in handling with the front forks adjusted in the clamps.

I want to retire, no longer required,
I want to get by without the man on my back.
