Muffler seal 08 650
« on: May 19, 2017, 08:19:06 PM »
Need a new muffler seal and can't get one local.
Does anyone know what fits from other bikes?
Edit: seal is 42.4mm id and 48.3mm od.
TLDR
Exhaust split just before the muffler on the way home from work today. :172:

if it's any help !
When the exhaust split on my 2008 versys , I took the headers of and got a 48mm piece of pipe welded on , thereby eliminating the need for a seal .

I assume all is/was ok?
I thought of that but assumed there was a reason for the seal, like reducing vibration maybe.

Decided to order header and muffler seals from the bay.
Have to weld it up on Monday and await the parts.

What a pain in the backside...been using the bike for commuting lately as travelling over Runcorn bridge is pain at the best of times but whilst they're building the new bridge and closing roads etc.. it adds a half hour on to my commute in the car each way.

Parts turned up yesterday and I fitted them in the evening before a quick bimble around Liverpool.

Was a pain getting the pipe into the graphite seal but used some Vaseline and gentle persuasion  :007:
