It's always worth one journey with a gallon can bungeed to the back (with petrol in it of course).

If you do do that make sure you put a little 2T oil (300:1) in the tank beforehand, so that when you run the tank down the pressurising fuel pump has a little pre lub before it runs dry.

The fuel pump in the tank is cooled / lubricated by the fuel going through it and can easily fail very quickly if run dry  :138:

How did you manage that? Drill holes either side of the filler cap to expel the air??!  :028: :028:
I have now, but you can fill it right up by shaking it a bit to "burp" the tank.
The 20.8ltrs indicates that I was on fumes when I filled up, I didn't get anymore than that in when I ran dry and pushed it back!

B careful lads once had as low as 165 after an absolute 3/figure caning my mk 1/into a head/ cross wind on the Mway with a top box and as much as 225 hooning up and down the box like Fred Astaire around Wales. Both would be a true reflection of my riding.

208 miles before the light came on.  5 more miles to the petrol station, 16.2l put in the tank.
