The Saga of the new Versys Continues.
« on: Jun 17, 2018, 05:48 PM »
I went and picked up the new versys last Monday as I could not afford to wait any longer for the spotlights[I was still paying extra payments for the bike that they had had off me more than a month ago as a trade in]I wanted to book the bike in for the 600ml service on the 30th then go straight from the shop to the chunnel as it's our wedding anniversary,BUT could not get the bike in till mid july,so they said if I can do the 600mls this week and take it there tomorrow they will have it for a week and fit it in as there is bound to be a cancellation, did the miles by Wednesday even though it was hard at 53mph,then fitted heated grips and my sat nav,in all this time NEVER took the mrs on the back just assumed all would be well, until today took her out and the vibes through the seat are that bad she can't go on it,so now got to go out on my other bike to see if we will be able to go to bruges on that, the trouble with that is if warwick davis was a pillion on it his legs would be too LONG,so might end up going in the car and I bought the versys for touring.

The vibes must be very bad, I understand most women would enjoy a little extra vibration in the seating area

I would have a hard word with the dealer because the MK3 is supposed to be the smoothest yet and the 2 was pretty good.
Maybe something is loose?

Versysgaz that sounds odd.
I've just asked my better half and she said no problem with the original seat or the Seat Concepts foam and cover I have on at the moment.
I allways found the oem seat poor on my mk1 and mk3 for the rider. I have tried various times to cut and adjust the foam.
You could get the rear seat foam replaced with a better quality foam which should not cost a lot at an upholsterers and may be an easy fix to make her comfortable.
molegrips be good.

On my 2nd mark 3 and my Mrs has never complained about excessive vibes through the seat. Did 12,000 miles on the first one and almost 4000 on my present bike.. never a murmur from the guvner

IT'S GONE,took the versys over today for the 600mile service but as said on here needed the vibes checking first, mechanic took it out and said they were normal,to which I replied total waste of time unless you are going to put another mechanic on the back, welll getting nowhere so lost a packet and traded it in[only a week old]but then got 90% of my loss back as negotiated a cracking deal on a new Africa Twin, pick it up Thursday, thanks everybody hope the Africa twin forum are as nice as you lot.

Well that all escalated quickly... a proper  roller coaster ride of a thread.

I've had some short ownership in my time, but this takes the biscuit.

Nice choice of bike - eventually!

Top trumps
Reckon I can beat it brought a f800gt and sold it after 112 miles, I simply could not stand the wind noise from the screen I tried a higher one still the noise was unbearable.
Cut my losses and got shot of it and brought a naked bike.......  the unbearable noise was just the same turns out I wasn't the bike at all it was the shoei xr1100 helmet I had brought at the same time what a piece of crap that was.
Not my finest hour but I do stupid things so other people can benefit the lesson to learn only change one thing at a time.
Good look with the Africa twin a bike that even comes with a decent exhaust note as standard a rare thing these days.
