making a GS style satnav/phone mount
« on: Aug 10, 2018, 03:37 PM »
may be of interest for some, i'm in the process of designing and making a high accessory bar for my mk1, the aim is to hold a phone / shat-nav up away from the bars, where most mounts are, since looking down that far on more technical roads can be a bit of a titspanner. bit flexy at the moment, i think another arm held under the right screen bolts aswell as the left may be the ticket. Feel free to share/critique/suggest.

I used an SW Motech mount meant for a zzr1400  something like this would do the same job https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sw-motech-BMW-S1000-Xr-Satnav-Mount/283057604427?hash=item41e78c474b:g:UJsAAOSwT2pbSyqL
and some 4mm aluminium plate, bit of cutting and drilling and my Garmin looks like it always lived behind my screen on the MK1
