ABS light on
« on: Jan 11, 2019, 08:30 AM »
Morning all. Last night I forgot I had my disc lock on the rear, anyway I paddled the bike backwards until the swing arm stopped me.
Removed the disc lock, didn't bother switching the bike off and rode for about 500m but the abs light stayed on. I checked for damage / pinching of the sensor cable but could not feel any damage.

It's a 2016 v650
Any ideas?

I will ride the bike today to see if the goes off. I am hoping that because I have switched the bike off overnight it will reset

Rode the 8 miles to work. Bike is running fine except the light stayed on for the full journey.

I might disconnect the battery tomorrow and see if that will do a reset

Sorry to tell you, you need a new ABS sensor. I did exactly the same thing with my 2012, even more sorry to tell you they are friggin expensive unless you score one cheap off ebay or wreckers. I paid almost $200 au for mine.

Cheers Maverick. Thought it might be that. Only rolled the wheel backwards.

Will see if I can get one on line somewhere.

I did exactly the same forgot the bloody disk lock was on the back (I always put it on the front) rolled backwards and crunch. ABS light stayed on.

Live and learn mate. I won't forget it again :)Will put it in the front end from now on. The only reason I put it on the Bach was a mate forgot his and cracked his fender.

Can I admit to undoing the lock before removing the curly cord from the bars and getting a bright yellow smack in the face?

Could I further admit to doing this more than once?

I feel better for getting that off my chest. And out of my eyes.
