Mirrors?
« on: Mar 18, 2019, 04:55 PM »
Hi Gents. Long time no post, but I'm back... bike going for MOT on Wednesday.

To get ready for that and a new season of riding, I decided to replace the stupid wind-powered mirrors with an aftermarket set from ebay. Bought these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-Mirrors-Left-Right-Pair-for-Kawasaki-KLE-650-Versys-07-10/401307202694

They were delivered with opposing threads, one LH one RH. Both my handlebar mounting points are normal RH thread.

Supplier has offered refund, but says all the ones he has are the same and he's supplied loads without issue.

Can someone confirm if the standard threads are RH/RH or LH/RH? My bike is an 08 650. Thanks!

My 09 are both RH, generally RH & LH are for Yamahas.

New set ordered, Yamaha specials sent back for refund, and bike now at MoT station with original wobbly mirrors.  :157:

Guy is very understanding, but if it fails it will be because the LH mirror is now loose.  :138:  Can always lose it to get it passed. Should have the new ones tomorrow.

Annoying having to keep swapping them, as the Givi screen has to be removed each time.

Nice MoT man didn't moan about my wobbly mirrors, but wasn't so happy about the fact the horn didn't work.   :015:

Fixed it with a pattern horn off his parts shelf and came away with a certificate.

New mirrors arrived Friday and went on easily - embarrassingly after removing the screen AGAIN, I realized the fairing doesn't turn with the handlebars...  :138: :008: :008: :008:

Got tax and insurance sorted over the weekend and out in the sunshine yesterday. New mirrors are wonderful... I can now see behind me after backing off from high speed which is novel  :002:

Where is that Green Lane and how long is it  :027:

Might have to try and include it in the 2020 NVM route for the hardy / brave ones  :notsure: :008:

https://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/ridgeway/information

Pic was taken at Hackpen Hill, just above the White Horse, on one of my favourite local roads near Marlborough, Wiltshire.

Green Lane is the Ridgeway. Only bits of it are open to vehicles, see link.

Made a mental note to go back and ride it in May!

The last MOT I did on my V nearly failed because of the horn.
The nice tester let me wiggle the connections while he pushed the button.
It arced across my fingers giving me a tasty jolt but it did set the horn off.
He laughed but did give me a pass because he had heard the horn going off.
