Mud protection
« on: Jun 17, 2019, 01:43 PM »
Hi all,

Getting my v next weekend. It didn't come with rear hugger and I notice the front guard is short too.

Any recommendations for hugger and front extender?  I'll be riding all year round so want more protection.

Thanks.

I have a colour-matched Ermax hugger that has been on the bike at least 8 years and still in great nick  :028:
Any old fender extender is cheap enough.

I want to retire, no longer required,
I want to get by without the man on my back.

Make sure you don't buy the Pyramid hugger, they are notorious for fracturing at the mounting points.

The Pyramid huggers look great , but are a bit fragile.  My dealer added a zip tie to mine which was placed just behind the passenger footrest ( so is unseen ) on the chain side. My first one did fracture, but the replacement is still going strong.
What would you rather be, or a wasp?

I mentioned hugger and my wife went out and found Pyramid before I had chance to research it properly... it's been on 6 months, out most days, in all weathers. May be too soon to tell but no sign of any trouble yet.

I think all huggers are too short, one day i might extend mine with a piece from another one, fitting two fender extenders to the front helps.

I've always thought they looked a bit short.  I'd like it to go 2/3's over the wheel, so it's on the downward side.
