Scotland in June
« on: Jul 24, 2019, 08:53 PM »
Second week in June I took off with a mate to enjoy the west coast of Scotland.
The weather was a mixed bag, ranging from miserable long spells of rain, through sunshine and showers to glorious sunshine.

Not much writing below but some pics:

Gourock ferry in the rain. Lots of people with the same idea. Busy for a Wednesday evening:

Bridge of Orchy:

Glencoe:

Morar. Blue bike with unnecessarily large wheels:

Morar Sands:

Most photographed castle anywhere:

Pass of the Cattle:

Roadside camping Strathcarron. Light rain and midges:

Near Lochinver:

Drumbeg:

It was the best motorcycling I can remember in a few years - exhilarating  :celebrate:  intense, all-consuming, sensory, in-the-moment, and too much to absorb in a such a short space of time.
I am always blown away by the stunning, breath-taking, other-worldly scenery and the exciting roads of northern Scotland.
At times it was gruelling and challenging as we covered 1,600 miles in seven days, much of it on minor roads. The unseasonable weather added to the challenge - very cold northerly winds for June and frequent showers.
It has re-ignited my passion for motorcycle adventure  :biker1:

I want to retire, no longer required,
I want to get by without the man on my back.
