Versys ordered, BigBol63.
« on: Aug 08, 2019, 02:27 PM »
Hi all
Last weekend the good wife and I tested a 650 and a 1000, swapping over so we got to ride each.  The 1000 was a 2015 and the 650 a new Demo bike.  I rode the 650 1st, her indoors the 1000 obviously.  She currently has a GSX1250fa and I a ZRX1200 and a Z900rs Cafe', we also ride a Pan1300 and a VFR crossrunner for Bloodbikes so we're pretty use to riding different styles of bikes.  Anyway.

Having ridden both the wife preferred the 1000 as the 650 was a little vibey, in line fours are what's she's generally use to.  For power the 1000 has it of course but i like twins and i've other powerful bikes so I've bought a 2018 650 (19 colour grey/black) and collect this Saturday.  As for the wife even though she liked the 1000, in like a burnt Orange, she didn't like the gear indicator (not in screen) as it was slow to respond to changes and bright red numbers were distracting.  She also thought the gearbox was too smooth, work that out if you can!

So there you go.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The 650 is a superb middleweight bike, a bit of Jack of all trades.

Absolutely agree about the gear indicator on the 1k.  Not difficult to unplug.

The 650 is in a class of it's own, unlike anything else. and the Mk1s are becoming collectibles  :2: :2: .

:185: to the forum B B.  Yes the little Versys is a cracking bike, it will have a go at whatever kind of biking that you care to partake in. You have bought the twin of mine, and I can confirm that the MK3 is a great bit of kit.

As Clunky says it's a bit of a rebel, but has lots of heart and sole. I have also had lots of bigger more powerful bikes, but haven't enjoyed any of them any more than this little fella.

Not sure that I agree with your good lady. The little Versys shudders and throbs, but definitely doesn't vibrate..

Enjoy the bike, it has lots of character for you to get used to.  cheers :031:   Geoff.

And talking of little 650's.  I had a Deauville 650, just for Blood Biking, before I went IAM and could ride a Fleet Bike.  I loved the Deauville, you could throw it about and really give it some stick. Lovely engine.  In fact i did my IAM test on it and my examiner was well impressed how it went.  During the IAM test you're expected to 'sparkle' a little, so winding her up and 'making good progress' was quite easy.  Now i'm expecting stick for having a Deauville, cheap as chips and fun and don't knock em till you tried them.
