Hold out for a better offer, send in three examples of bikes from a local dealer, or local adverts in MCN, etc, then get them to prove their valuation and rip it to bits as being unrealistic and unrepresentative, you will be dealing with a specialist valuer who's job is to get you to settle as cheaply as possible, don't take the £1400 offer, if the frame's bent you wont be able to sell the bike, or the stripped down frame, so you're left with spares and scrap, you won't get £1400 selling it for spares  :9:
Just passin' through

Also if the accident is not your fault then I believe ( correct me if I'm wrong) you could ask the insurer to replace your bike with an identical model of same age and approx milage. 🤔

Thanks all! Definitely fighting for a higher price and will “unleash the hounds” if necessary! Quite a difference in opinion here about what i’d Get for breaking it for spares though which is interesting!

I’ll keep you all appraised of how it goes. I’m with Lexham insurance by the way.

Hi All,

So the story thickens.... Firstly NEVER get insurance from Lexham... they are S"*t. They don't even deal with the claim themselves, they palm you off to a company called Plantec Assist for the valuations and replacements etc and to another company (cant remember the name) for any policy queries etc.

Secondly, they are saying that i MUST take the bike back in its current condition and as it is worth £1,400, they are taking it off the value of the bike. They still havent agreed a higher figure and have just today taken the hire bike back as they have issued a check for the disputed figure of £5,030 MINUS the £1,400 "Scrap value" of the bike.

They have also "very kindly" offered to scrap the bike for me but they will only give me £1,000 for it as they have to "reclaim their costs". :172: :172: :172: :172: :172: :172: :125: :125: :125: :157: :157: :157: :173: :173: :173:

So, in light of this, if anyone wants any spare parts, let me know!! pretty much all of it is in good/great condition apart from the front mudguard, left hand side fairing and the frame!

All offers considered. or.... if anyone wants the whole thing for £1,400, its yours!!! I'll post pictures of teh damage so you can all see when I can find my ruddy password for the Gallery........

Until then,

Safe Riding!  :biker1: :biker1: :biker1:

i'm sorry but why "Must" you buy the bike back? (I would but that's not the point is it?)
They say to you it's worth £1,400 but to them it's worth £1,000, I'd accept their valuation!!!!
Have you not got legal protection because they need a strongly worded letter,
I'd be returning their issued cheque because until you agree then they can't state that they've paid you an agreed sum.
If I wrote you a cheque for £35 because I like all your possessions would you let me have them?
No?
well tell these thieving C&%$ts to do one!!!

Unfortunately I do not have legal cover (another lesson learned)

I also for some reason, cannot log into my Gallery to post picks and when I try to get a new password, I get no email.....

I am looking into if i can buy a new frame and just put all the other bits back on that (except the broken bits obviously!!) .... might be a winner!

A brand new frame is about US$1400.00

A lot of time involved in doing the switch over I expect.

Still cheaper than getting a like for like replacement (if they will give me the money for that even....) unless anyone knows a good scrappy that will give me £1,400 for the bike?
