Starting problem with Versys 07
« on: Sep 10, 2019, 04:28 PM »
Sorry for my english, it's not my first language. Hope you get the point.

I bought  a Kawasaki Versys 650 2007 three months ago.
In first month i didn't have any problems, but then i noticed there was something wrong with starting.

Sometimes when i try to start the bike, it doesn't start. But the problem always go away when i turn off the power with key and put it back on couple of times. Sometimes even with just one try.

When the problem appears, FI-light doesn't turn on when i turn the power on, then if i try to start the bike, FI-light starts flashing and doesn't start.

Down here is  two videos showing the problem. Hope some of you can figure out where the problem is.

Could well be a sticky ignition switch or worn key.

Try removing the switch and cleaning it as per link below.

sounds like the fuel pump isn't kicking in every time. Not sure what that could be due to, though  :notsure:
I'd find a way to power the pump directly from the battery, so you could see if the intermittent problem is at the water pump or somewhere else (like the ignition switch)
