Oil filler cap question
« on: Sep 11, 2019, 02:29 PM »
A stupid question, but needs must....

Does the oil filler cap (on a Mk3) have an O ring?

After stopping yesterday for fuel, I topped up the oil a little and after I'd put the cap back on my brother noticed an O ring on the ground near to my bike. I picked it up, cleaned it and offered it up, and it seemed to be a little too big, so I didn't bother trying to put it on, and when I got home (some hundreds of miles later) there were no traces of oil around the filler cap.

 Hmm.
Haven't yet seen a filler cap on a moto without an O ring. The one on the ground may have been stretched, which would be why it fell off. Not usual, 'tho.

Check a parts fiche to see if one is listed.
A pint of B.B. says it will be, but you don't need a Kawi one.

Good thinking, I managed to find it

Yes, it apparently should have one - 20mm. I'll go and procure another one and put it on before I use the bike next.

Thanks
