it's std procedure in Japanese manufacturing to assemble things "dry" otherwise you transfer grease onto everything that you touch, also grease on threads alters the torque values (reduced friction) so tightening effectively goes out of the window.
Was the programme "Twist the throttle"? I have seen it a few times and some of Kawasaki's production procedures are way off how we do it.
Enfield India's good dollop of grease is a method they will have carried over from the British manufacturing days in fact that brush will be the same one that came over with the tooling from Blighty in the early 1950's!!
You got it in one!  Yes sir twisted throttle....  On a high performance bike those wheel spindles will know don't be removed within a year or so for new tyres so you can grease them as you see fit. My vanvan rear tyre lasted 13k miles and the spindle had been sat in there for apx 10 years the bugger was siezed solid requiring lump hammer and hard wood. When I purchased my next vanvan all 3 spindles were removed and greased.
My 70's ts suzuki's always had a grease nipple on swing arm which was much better.
Imho dry assembly is a daft idea!
I'm going out on my bike.

It's beyond me the guy I spoke to at the bearing place never heard of most of the bearing numbers. And almost none of the bearings come up in that search site.  :187:
