Hi from bart55 in Hampshire
« on: Feb 17, 2020, 01:26 PM »
Hi All,
I just joined the forum today. Reason being I bought a '16 plate dark orange Versys650 last week from P&H motorcycles down in Crawley. They can't deliver it for another week yet, so I am trying to be patient and wait for it to arrive (which is not easy). I am super excited to be getting back to biking though. I used to ride a Yamaha Thundercat for many years, which always brought on a huge grin every time I rode it. Unfortunately my last ride on the 'cat ended up with the bike totalled and me in hospital and that was over 15 years ago. My first child came along the year after the accident and another followed soon after, so family has been the big priority for a while. My daughters are older now, so it seemed like a good time to get back in the saddle. I'm hoping  the Versys will be a more relaxed ride that won't tempt me into hooligan ways (too often!)

 :185:  to the forum B55.

I'm certain that you will enjoy the new bike, but you will have a bit of a relearning curve to adjust to.  My advice would be to go nice and steady to begin with.

But when the time comes you will find that the little Versys does possess a little bit of a hooligan streak.

Enjoy the bike and this forum. There is also lots of help and assistance here if and when needed.

Extracting the urine is mandatory here, but you must also have thick skin.

Cheers.    :031:      Geoff   :2:

When I was waiting to pick up my mk3, I found myself on YouTube all the time watching videos of versys's. Sad fact but it helped.

Thanks Geoff. I know it will take a bit of getting used to again. I recently took an hour long session on a learner bike with a great guy from a local bike training centre who gave me lots of useful feedback on my riding. I found that very useful after such a long time away.

Blimey, that must make me sadder than a sad thing.  I watch Versys related stuff on YouTube ever single day.  :034: :138:

Good colour, Bart55, I got mine from P&H. Just the usual green. I hate not being able to ride daily, I seem to forget all the little things that make you a smooth rider.
I'm sorry, really bad reception here, you said your name was Dr. who?

Welcome to the forum Mark  :031:
Enjoy the bike when you get it and make the most of the forum.
I want to retire, no longer required,
I want to get by without the man on my back.

:scooter: Welcome I am pretty new here too but have found the natives are friendly. Theres a whole stack of stuff to explore when you run out of Versys content on you tube. Some of the ride write ups are great and just make me wish I had more time to tour.
Hey ho one of the things I love about my V is that even the necessary journeys become fun.
Enjoy the ride  :028:

Sometimes it takes a winding road to get your head straight.
