newish / returning member
« on: Mar 24, 2020, 01:26 AM »
Hi, I am looking at changing my bike and am considering getting a versys 650.

I currently have a Suzuki gsx1250fa, but only really use my bike for commuting to work and occasionally riding to friends and relative in the city and feel that I the bike is maybe too big for my needs.

I have been looking at a few bikes the last few weeks and even took a Honda CB500x out the other day for a demo, but found the drop in bhp was probably just a bit too much from what I have at the moment.

My previous bike was an MT09 and the bike before was in fact a versys650, the version with the 2 headlights on top of each other, so I looked on the web for forums and decided to register here to do a bit of research, but remembered that I was a member before, so here I am again logging in to this site.

Welcome back, looks like you have at least 3 weeks to make a decision on what to get next!

My local kawasaki dealership announce last night that they are closing, they are only in today to release customers bikes, clothing etc.

They are selling a brand new 2020 650 for 6499 atm as well. I was going to go in and have a demo and see how i liked it and see how much they wanted for said demo bike.

Making the decision is half the fun sometimes.
You just have longer to make the decision now.

Best not to buy it at the moment or it will be sitting there for weeks and that would be seriously annoying.

 :185:  to the forum Davie.

If you have owned a Versys before you should know all that you need to know.

Except that the MK3 is way better than the original MK1.  Better brakes, suspension, fuel range and lots less vibration.

The price for the new one must be the bargain of the year.

Cheers  :031:   Geoff.  :2:

Yeah, I am pretty sure I will like it,, I remember when I bought the first one, 1 minute in to the demo and I knew I was going to buy it, it blew me away and I had a yamaha thundrcat at the time which was a great bike in its day.

I will demo the versys and the vstrom from the same dealership on the same day when things settle down on the virus front.

Sounds like a real bargain, get them to throw in some luggage and you've got yourself all the bike you'll ever need!

The Mk3 is fab and you won't be disappointed, I wouldn't even bother sitting on the boring, dull, characterless V-Strom  :151:

But it seems you've got some time to do some internet browsing, so enjoy and get familiar with the forum again in the meantime...guaranteed not to shut  :028:
