Absolutely agree, even with our wider straighter highways.

If I were down to one bike it would certainly be the 650 rather than the V1k.

Well said jonnster 71 👍
I really want to learn about suspension set up . I haven't a clue. Im a hop on and ride, take to mechanic kind of guy as was a late comer to bikes, rode a bike for first time at 32 , never grew up around them, only time heard of bikes is when someone was killed on one, like my brothers friend rode one into a tree at 18. So never learned any mechanical knowledge.

At first i thought id made a big mistake and had buyers remorse, but i told myself ill take her on a long ride , i even advertised and had two people interested  in it within hours. I had ninja 1000 up 7 months before i sold that , shows you its popular. So i went on a 3 hour ride along all my usual jaunts and when i got back she had won me over.
I dont know what it is "spare parts bin"  but it just works , its not super fast but feels like it, its not super good looking but is, great tank range, handles like i can change my mind many times in a corner 😂, sounds amazing,  it just does everything.

Does kawasaki know how good this bike is ?

I ve owned a versys 1000 too before ninja 1k , although that V1k engine is really nice, for me it doesn't come close to the 650 in handling and character. Just my thoughts.

I think ive found my home in a little 650,  been chasing "that " bike , thinking it came in more cc's or rider modes,  who would thought   it would be found in such a unremarkable little machine .

Well done kawasaki!

I really want to learn about suspension set up . I haven't a clue.
There's some great posts on here, a search throws up lots of info. Me, I had a go but wasted a couple of years mindlessly frigging around and not making progress. I ended up going to a racing specialist and he set it up in 20 minutes and transformed the handling. You should have someone similar in Oz, just look for a suspension specialist who ideally works with race teams.

I dont know what it is "spare parts bin"
It's cobbled together from inexpensive components that are shared across lots of other bikes. There's very little specific to the V650 but whatever there is, it makes for an experience that even the hardiest, gnarliest bikers I know find thoroughly satisfying.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it so much, you'll find little argument on here about how much fun it is.

This is one of the best videos I have seen on suspension.
Best 26 minutes you can watch is you want to know how and why.
