« on: Jul 03, 2020, 02:56 PM »
I don't have access to a 3D Printer so was wondering if anyone UK based is making the 3D bits for the seat mod?

If you are can you PM me with a price and availability please.

(Copy/paste from my post on the other site)

Here's what I did.

Go here to download the file for free: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1775953.

Then go here to upload the file and have the riser printed: https://www.makexyz.com/

Specify the following on the makexyz website:

Process: FDM
Material: ABS
Color: Green (or whatever color you want)
Infill: 50% (the default is a lower % which may not be strong enough)
Layer height: 0.2mm

Then wait for it to arrive. This was my first foray into 3D printing and it was very easy and inexpensive. The two websites listed above are very intuitive to use, no expertise required.

For installation, I used stainless M6 x 40mm hex-head bolts and M6 flat washers (you can also use flange-head bolts, which would eliminate the need for the washers.) I think 40mm is the minimum bolt length you can get away with; others have used 45mm or 50mm. Took less than five minutes to swap out the risers.

Yes this is a common mod to raise the seat up  :031:

HOWEVER

Whilst this does raise the seat by raising up the tongue, it does not support the front of the seat properly as the tongue is not designed to be weight bearing  :138: and also alows the front of the seat to rock from side to side  :138:

What you need to do is ensure the front of the seat is on these tabs

which then rest on these points below

What you really need is something like this solution  :028:

Richard, by the looks of it your solution raises the rear of the tank too. Is it possible to instead just raise/spacer the original cross member bar (the one with the red circles) an appropriate amount with longer bolts of course?

GoG

No it does not raise the tank support tabs as they are under the white plastic 👍
