A bit too early for me to commit just now. I will have to see how my personal water treatment system is working in a couple of weeks time.

I am having a new catheter fitted on the 18 th of August, if all is well after that, and I get the all clear from the witch doctor, then I should be good to go.

Not easy to plot  an A and B road route from North Yorkshire to the heart of England though.

Maybe I need a sat nav  :008:                   Erm wait a minute, nah that is not going to happen.  :002:

Using a GPS is just 'admitting defeat.'  A map is all you need.  In fact ... maps are a bit advanced if you ask me.  A few lines scratched on a piece of paper with some ambiguous notes alongside is more than sufficient.
Ride as if your life depended on it.

Stick in the ground and a watch to work out the compass points.
Head South and then turn sharp right and go East when you get to Peterborough.

I think that my route will go something like this.    A boring hour down the A1, to avoid Leeds and York.  Then the A635 to Holmfirth. Then the stunning A6024 over Holme moss, followed down through little Switzerland, to join the Woodhead pass.

Followed by the very scenic B 6105 to Glossop. Then the equally visually stunning A624  to Whaley bridge.  The next bit of road  was built by someone who knew a thing or two about having fun on a bike, the A5004 to Buxton.

The A 515 comes next to Ashbourne, more of this road until Lichfield.  Then maybe the short ride in on the A5.

Cracking days ride me thinks, and no time limit.   Only criteria is to have fun ,and enjoy the day, and admire some fantastic vistas.   :002:

Let me know if this works or not.

The planned route is something like this.
Lunch in Melton Mowbray because pork pies :1:

Route for the ride looks a good 'un.

If anyone's wants to have a look something a little different, on the most southernmost part of the route just past Corby is Lubenham,
about a mile north is Foxton Locks, two staircases of five locks each making the largest lock staircase on the British canal system.

Not to stop, obviously, don't want too much culture out on a ride, just to take a look and drive by...... :033: :008:

Foxton locks is on the route for a stop and natter.

Maps has cut the route up a bit from my phone.
I will try to do it again and post the proper route.
