Hi - from a sunny but slightly white NE Scotland.
« on: Jan 09, 2021, 11:16 AM »
Hi Folks,

Just a quick intro.  HarryMac - mid fifties been riding since I was 17, never bothered getting a full license when I was younger.

New Years resolution 2020 to get my full license, sat my theory, planned to do an “intensive” course in the summer but got lock-downed.  Sat my CBT early December 2020 (for the 4th time in 20 years  :012: - life/house purchase/work/children blah blah).  Arranged a couple of days training and mod 1&2 for January 2021 and got locked down again  :172: just waiting to get “unlocked” and a test date now.

Was looking at Hondas (CBR650F, CB500X, VFR) as I had Hondas when I was younger tho’ my mates were into 2 stroke Yamaha’s, but read a comparison in MCN or one of the bike mags a couple of months ago, so....

have semi-agreed a deal on a 2018 Versys 650..... subject to viewing, test ride (by one of my mates if I haven’t got my test by then).

All the best for 2021.

Bloody hell Harry, ya should be called lucky after your recent woes.    Anyway  :185: to the forum, and let's hope things get moving for you very soon.

The Versys is a cracking bike , and is good enough, and versatile enough to not only get you through the early wobbles of a bigger bike, but then continue to please when you want to enjoy the performance that the bike has.

I hope that you enjoy it when you get rolling.  But always remember    Steady away.

Cheers  :031:  Geoff.  :002:

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The Versys is an amazing Jack of all trades bike and will look after you well. You may find it will be a big enough bike for you without having anything bigger engine-wise as it is such an accomplished all-rounder.

Dave T

PS Good luck with the test when you get a chance to take it.
Lord, Please make me into the person my dog thinks I am.

Yes, good luck for the test.
Slightly white? Sounds cold.
I'm sorry, really bad reception here, you said your name was Dr. who?

Hi,

It’s actually quite warm for January hovering about 0°C.  Had a light dusting of snow but loads of black ice about.

Mebbe just as well we can’t go anywhere :002:

I guess that tire choice plays a bigger part in your part of the world.

Probably not as much as the West coast - my brother-in-law reckons it’s been raining there for 47 years without a break. :001:

Not too sure that riding in ice and snow is a bright idea  :5:
