2021 NVM – Rhayader again
« on: Feb 06, 2021, 07:51 PM »

Dates: - 17th to 19th September 2021.
Venue:-  Mid Wales, staying in and around Rhayader.
Location: - https://w3w.co/plankton.soft.distorts

On the Rhayader websites (See them for contact details), there are numerous places that you can stay.
www.rhayader.co.uk and www.rhayader.com

Hotels, B&B, Self-Catering, Camping etc.

Elan Hotel - Main Street in town.
Has been refurbished recently and have around 8 rooms.
There is a small private car park to the rear that will fit around 10 bikes.

Ty Morgan’s - Main Street in town.
They have around 10 rooms.
Very small car park down a side street can cater for around 5 bikes.

The Lamb and Flag - Pub on the main street.
It has a few rooms and a largish open / busy / easily accessible car park to the side of it.

The Crown - Opposite the Lamb and flag pub.
A small pub with a few rooms but no parking that I could see.

Cornhill Inn – further down West Street
They have a few rooms. 500 year old public house, original oak beamed inglenook fireplace, traditional cask ales. Biker-friendly.

Elan Valley Hotel - Largish hotel, about 2½ miles from town centre.

Lion Royal Hotel - Main Street in town centre.
Very old coaching inn, basic, clean, lots of character, with a large covered barn for the bikes in the secure back yard, which is locked in the evenings. They also have a drying room for wet kit.
~15 rooms and popular with the off road TRF m/c clubs. We all had a great time here in 2017  :107:
PS – The Committee has already booked 3 rooms here :028:
Note:
1. To request a reservation @ LRH, please use this email address - info@lionroyal.co.uk
This hotel is shut at the moment due to Covid, so phones will NOT be answered.
2. The prices quoted on their website are out of date.

Camping
For those hardy souls / cheapskates, this is available at the Wyeside Caravan & Camping Park, 400m just outside the northern town limits on the A470. www.wyesidecamping.co.uk
Other Pubs and B&B accommodation are available, are used to motorcyclists and they are all within staggering distance of each other, as WD and Jonnster have verified.  :031:

General
All other day visitors ( Inc. non Versys motorcycles :notsure: ), are welcome at any time on the w/e to come and join in the merriment.   :031:

See you all there  :123A:

I have booked my accommodation at the Lion Royal  for myself and my team.   Bring it on.   :152:

Did I say team    Should have said carers.   :008:

Any thoughts on a meet up for those travelling from the North, as we did when we went to Ross-on-wye.

A gathering at the Pondarosa cafe on the Horseshoe pass. Followed by a ride in to Rhayader.

I remember that ride down to Ross being on some lovely quick and exiting roads, and blessed by fantastic vistas.    :2:

TM, been looking into the accommodation and liked the look of the Cornhill Inn, However, according to Google, it has been closed since 2018.
Some further digging and it seems that the pub has been converted into a rather nice 9 bedroom house and was listed on 'On The Market' in the not too distant past.

Just thought it worth sharing my findings in case anyone else was looking at this one.

Anyway, I am looking forward to this one and will be booking the leave from work soon, look forward to seeing you all then.

Shandy,

Thanks for the info- I don't know if Richard used the same accomm file he used in 2017 so that could mean it has been closed as well as some others possibly.

Oh well what a shame.
Seeing it was still listed on various local websites I assumed it may have reopened  :027:

According to the records the LRH have sent us so far on the 8th Feb, you are booked in to Room 10 from 16th to the 19th of September.

The problem looks like it is your tablet  :138:  - I would just keep taking them

Thx Towerman,

Followed your link and booked myself and the misses into the Lion Royal Hotel.

A great location for ourselves as we will be travelling from the North West of England and can make a great weekend of it.

I have 9, we will be NVM Neighbours.

I am betting that TM has booked the Lion suite with complimentary hand jobs.
