Brake fluid? Gasoline? What is it.
« on: Jul 16, 2021, 05:22 PM »
Hi guys,

I was ceaning my bike today and I spotted these stains. I did replace my brake fluid last  week, but I don't understand how it could have gotten to here as the reservoirs are on the right side of the steer and beneath the saddle. I also do not recall spilling any brake fluid anywhere.

I'm not sure what it is, and it doesn't go of with a sponge and soap.

I honestly also don't know exactly how brake fluid biting into paint looks.

What is your guess of what this could be? And how it can be fixed?

Brake fluid normally blisters the paint, maybe something has come from the road and been flicked up by the tyre .So it's now time to remove and repaint the cover.

Brake fluid is a solvent, so it will take off the clear coat or top layer of your paint if left to soak on it.  If you wipe it off quickly, you probably will see no marks on the paint.  But it doesn't take too long to start showing.  Good demo here:

Thanks for the answrs guys.
@gustavo, it does look like somehow some brake fluid has leaked on it, doesn't it?

Should I take any additional action to prevent it from causing more damage?
And is there any way to fix it? Or repaint it.
