Failed Horn Replacement on 2015 MK3
« on: Jul 26, 2021, 11:07 AM »
Replacement horn sourced online, much louder than the original, same length bracket, and connections. Red insert colour to suit colours on bike, not sure if they do other colours though.
Comes with sticker for bike.
Priced at £15.00 inc postage.

The old horn itself failed for some reason, went completely open circuit, coil died, so fitted this new one. Easy to do, same fixings and wiring connections.

Ah got you. The way it was worded I thought it was a failed replacement of the horn… looked good to me lol.

Now mine was a failed replacement!
I had a 2018 650 GT to which I added a Denali Mini Sound Bomb and it worked amazingly! Could be heard a mile away.
When I sold the 650 for the 2020 V1K SE I swapped the horns over. Nothing… horn gurgles and whimpers but no real sound.
Might have something to do with the silver screw on the back of it that someone got curious about and played with… but let’s not assign blame.
I am tempted to just buy another one but I’d love to get mine working again. £25 and a trip to London for it from N.Ireland lol.

As you say, just probably, the screw to adjust, I am also tempted by the snail horns, sound bombs, just liked the red insert, as lots of little red trims about the bike, like coil spring, fork adjusters etc.
Might add a few more red trims, like fork protectors etc.

I’d love to find the correct setting again for that adjustment screw. Maybe some day haha.

I made my own fork protectors from an old wetsuit. Granted I have an embroidery machine at home to help, I am tempted to make more and maybe sell them online.
