If by "get away with it" you mean you don't care if you blind anyone then sure you probably will. If you want to check and see if it is aligned properly then there are videos on youtube on how to set up your lights correctly. In a nutshell have the bike upright 25 feet away from a wall, measure the height of the headlight bulb (low beam) and then measure the height of the beam on the wall. The beam should be just below the height of the bulb.
