Loop security chain through frame?
« on: Jun 14, 2022, 04:43 PM »
I've only had the bike a day so forgive me I'm not intimately familiar with it yet! But I want to lock it down and stop tea leaves taking it, so...

For looping a 19mm security chain through the frame as opposed to the wheel, is this section a candidate? Or is it either i) too thin and a soft target for angle grinding? or ii) can this section of the frame be unscrewed with an allen key or something?

Edit: hmm I can't post photos yet :(

Not really. 1.  (I'm fairly sure) it bolts on/off, and 2, its too thin.

IMHO You're better off going through the rear wheel - at least that way the barstewards have to carry it away or bring their own skateboard.

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah consensus seems to be that it's too thin and I should just go through swingarm - not sure why I didn't spot the gap in the swingarm first time around  :034:

I stick  u lock through rear wheel chain and sprocket. In dodgy areas , I add a front disc lock or just use that for a quick pop into a shop if I think it's iffy. Both plus a cahin lock to something solid if I am in Morpeth🤣🤣🤣
TBH not many 650 Versys get nicked , can think of only a couple  in the past 14 years on this forum, they would more likely take an off reader for acting like a coxk or a superbike for the money
