Back To Biking !!
« on: Jun 17, 2022, 02:45 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I am returning to two wheels after a 25 year gap!!................ the usual story of biker gets married has kids blah, blah and the biking stops.    Now that I've just taken early retirement it's time to get back to the bikes.   I decided a mid range machine was a sensible move and, after trawling through reviews I have opted for a lime green 2008 Versys with colour coded panniers and top box.  Expecting delivery late next week after the dealer has it serviced and MOT'd.

Excited doesn't begin to describe it!

I'll post a picture when it arrives.

Keep safe.

Great choice of bike for your reintroduction to biking, there is lots to like about the Versys, and it should serve you well.

Keep us informed of your progress, and how many sleepless night you have  :008:

Welcome back to two wheels, I did exactly the same and after a few mistakes with bike choice landed on the Versys, I love it.

I  had a 10 byear break and could have  bought anything literally anything., I cant belive to this day  I bought a 60 odd bhp shite suspension fugly bike. But it keeps me otta jail and tests my skills. That's was 15 odd years ago and no matter how hard I try with the skills I have honed over the years ,its still touch and go who is better, me or the bike, I think the bike wins

G'day from down under,

my return to road bikes (had a couple dual sports first) was a 2012 Versys 650 (plenty photos in my gallery) then 3 ZRX1200's a Versys 1000 and now a 2021 Z900. I still have 2 of the ZRX's, just too good to let go.  :38:

Thanks for the welcome guys.  Really looking forward to the bike arriving.  Hoping the weather stays fine so I can venture out and get a feel for the machine while itís dry 🤞

Spending my time watching YouTube vids for reviews and scanning the group posts for tips and advice while I have to wait.  Plus wearing the new boots around the house to break them in 😊

My somewhat inexperienced / new to Versys tip would be to buy a booster plug now, ready for when the bike arrives. Makes a world of difference to the on/off jerky throttle.
Enjoy your bike though, great choice.
