plastic buzz gone!
« on: Oct 23, 2007, 10:42 PM »
This pobably should have been posted under the plastic buzz post, but I thought more of you would see this if I made a new post.  The rubberized spray works great, buzz gone.  I used the Rust Oleum rubberized insulator spray, not that the brand makes a difference.  I used about 7 medeum coats, only took a couple of hours.  In my very unprofessional opinion, this works great! :028:

I must be the only Versys owner to not have this dreaded buzz.  What did you coat with the spary to eliminate the buzz?   :187:

I sprayed the black plastic instrument cowl, the underside of course.  That is what was buzzing on my bike.  It took about 700 miles for mine to develop the buzz.  If you don't have the buzz, just consider yourself one of the few lucky ones!  But if it does show up at some point, this is a cheap, quick and easy fix. :biker1:

Mine still buzzes lightly. I don't think it's the common problem that most experience as I've padded that out with some 3mm anti vibration foam strip. I noticed that sometimes when idling it buzzes from the area near the grab rails. There's also a slight metal buzz which could be coming from the levers.

I have 9 more metres of the foam left, I hope it's enough  :006:

Had my buzz fixed for free by the official factory anti-buzz modification at my supplying Kawasaki dealer.   Get your dealer to do the proper fix under warranty.

The bike had the kit installed when I bought it at the end of June. The buzzing started somewhere around 1200 miles. I replaced the Kawasaki foam with my own slightly thicker foam. That got rid of the major buzzing.

Like I say, there's lighter buzzing elsewhere. I know I can stop it,  I really haven't got the time to spare for a trip to the dealer. Just need an hour of uninterupted time this weekend, probably more, I still have the handguards to fit  :006:

Cheers, Funster

my Vs had the Kawi foam fix applied when I bought the bike too.  Apparently that fix is a joke, it did not work at all on mine.  Took the matter into my own hands and now it is silent.

Mine was also fitted with the recommended 'fix'. This lasted until just after the first service then bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

I have replaced the original foam with new (thicker), put more on the tank mountings for the plastic dash and both side fairings. It is now completely buzz-free. (1500 miles and counting) :001:
