Spent most of the morning trying to work out where the fault was with my headlights... not getting power to the bulb holders... was about to give up then realised when the engine was running the high beam lamp lit up.... Bugger!! Checked wires again and the power was there...didnt realise bike had to be running for lights to work... ooops... still no problem ill fit a couple of new H7 bulbs...only to find someone had chopped off the H7 holders and fitted something else..... cut them off and put some temp spade connectors on and all is well bulbs light up and high low beam works...have ordered some H7 bulb holders off eblag...... the joys of someone elses work... but at least ive learned something else about kawasakis!

Yep, headlights only on when engine running but you can switch them on by briefly pressing the starter button so the engine turns over but doesn't start, so there's no need to gas yourself while working on the lights.

Or start it and hit the kill switch, same result.

There used to be an adapter in between the bulb and the wiring plug on the Mk1

It was on the Mk. 2 as well. Of course since they went LEDs it's not necessary.

Ah that explains the free play between the bulb clip and the back of the bulb. The plugs that were on wernt H7 plugs they were of the 3 pin car headlight variety with the extra wire cut off...I can only assume they were using i filiment of a double filiment bulb. Plus they were just taped on.. I got some H7 plugs and soldered them onto the wires, and the plug fits directly onto the bulb.. i used some large rubber washers to take up the free play where im assuming the adapter used to be... all working fine now and the headlight is refitted.
